Nexium (Esomeprazole) ; What You Should Know

Nexium is a prescription drug used to reduce the production of acid in the stomach, it belongs to a class of Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). The generic form of this drug is esomeprazole which is also the name of the active ingredient. It proved to be effective in treating these conditions ;
a. Reflux disease / Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

Nexium comes in 2 dosages:
1. 20 mg capsules
2. 40 mg capsules

When you take Nexium, u have to take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is usually given for 4 to 8 weeks only and your doctor may give additional drugs to be fully recovered. Nexium should be taken at least one hour before meal. Never chew, crush or swallow nexium with the capsule, if you have difficulty swallowing Nexium capsules, just open the capsule and put the contents to a tablespoon of applesauce. Be sure to swallow the applesauce right away, don’t store it for the next take .

Nexium side effects that could possibly appear are:

• Constipation
• Dry mouth
